In June 2024, CALDA, in collaboration with other local organizations, created a call to action to highlight the many challenges that asylum seekers face when trying to access housing, as well as to promote innovative solutions to safe and secure housing.

- Asylum seekers face a number of compacting challenges that make them more susceptible to housing fraud, scams, or illegal processes. Some of these challenges include language and cultural barriers, a lack of information about their rights as tenants, and a precarious economic situation.
- Finding housing in Ahuntsic-Cartierville has its own unique challenges, including a lack of available housing and higher prices.
- While the efforts made by Quebec and Canada have been made to create urgent and immediate housing programs, there still remains a need for long term programs and programs that are better equipped to deal with the flexible and transitory nature of the realities of asylum seekers.
- There are certain community organizations that are developing alternative housing options for asylum seekers and refugees, including a housing project that offers a mix of short term and long-term housing while consistently providing orientation services such as job search facilitation, francization, and assistance looking for new housing.
- Some of the key recommendations made by CALDA and participating organizations include a call for innovative and concrete mid length housing solutions for asylum seekers, increasing the admissibility of asylum seekers to provincial services and programs, among other recommendations.
